One-off Events:

Saturday 29 November, 7pm: Living through Apartheid talk

 

Talk in the Village Hall by Martyn Morris: Living through Apartheid, from 1967 into the new millennium

Friday 5 and Saturday 6 December: Christmas Wreath Workshop

 

Workshop in the Village Hall: Make your own Christmas Wreath

Friday 5th December 2025  Time:  6.30 - 9.30pm  

OR       

Saturday 6th December 2025   Time:  10am - 1pm         

Cost:  £40  With guided tuition, learn how to make a beautiful, mossed wreath using fresh foliage and natural decorations. All materials included. Bring your own secateurs. Mulled cider and mince pies included. Choose from 2 dates.

Thursday 11 December, 7.30: Tales of Frost and Fire

 

Please come and join us for this cosy winter evening! The poster below is the correct version! The posters up around the village have a different artist on them, but Danny will be performing during the evening. Tickets are £12 from Norton Shop or takeart.org



Saturday 13 December (revised date): James Purefoy presents Custard Pies and Curtain Calls

 

At the Village Hall - doors and bar open 6.45, talk begins 7.30.

We are very fortunate that James Purefoy is going to come to our Village Hall and talk to us about his life as an actor. We are also incredibly grateful that he is happy for any money made to be put towards the Village Hall refurbishment fund. 

This is a one-off event so we would love to see you there!

Talk in the Village Hall: The Gut Microbiome – Fad or the Future?

Join immunologist Angie Lane for an evening exploring this fascinating subject. We will hear what our gut microbiome actually is and how it benefits our health and well-being. Talk to include a glass of wine/soft drink.

‘TalkShop’: Bringing the Exciting World of Interior Design into your Home

Time:  11am-1pm        Cost:  £15         

‘TalkShop’: Bringing the Exciting World of Interior Design into your Home In this interactive session, interior designer Sarah Lyall will share design principles and guide us in applying them in our own homes. An excellent chance to look at fabric and paint samples, layout plans, to ask questions and solve problems with the help of an expert.  Refreshments included.

Friday 27 February, 1.30-4pm: Hand Embroidery Workshop

 

Workshop: Stitch by Stitch: An Introduction to Hand Embroidery

Time:  1.30-4pm      Cost:  £30            

Join Fiona Parker for some relaxing slow-stitching and learn some basic embroidery. You will create a beautiful stitched hooped picture. Sewing materials provided. Refreshments included.

Wednesday 18 March, 7pm for 7.30pm start: Wild about Chiselborough Talk

 

Talk in the Village Hall: Wild about Chiselborough … and a little beyond!

Time: 7pm for 7.30pm start       Cost:  £8         

Dr Nigel Stone will take us on a journey through the rich and varied wildlife found in the gardens and green spaces of Chiselborough and the surrounding countryside. An evening not to be missed for keen gardeners, walkers and/or wildlife lovers.

Monday 20 April, 1.30-4.30pm: Botanical Printing Workshop

 

Workshop in the Village Hall: Botanical Printing

Time:  1.30 – 4.30pm            Cost:  £25            

Use natural plant material to create beautiful prints on paper and then enhance them with watercolour paint. A rewarding and relaxing paint session suitable for all abilities.

Saturday 16 May, 10-1pm: Willow Trug Workshop

 

Workshop in the Village Hall: Make a Willow Trug

Time:  10-1pm         Cost:  £35            

We welcome Warren back, this time to create a willow trug using sustainable willow, locally sourced from the Somerset levels. All materials and tools will be provided.

Thursday 11 June, 1-4pm: Bouquet Workshop

 

Workshop: Make a Hand-Tied Bouquet

Time:  1-4pm        Cost:  £40            

Learn how to condition flowers, arrange in a spiral, tie then wrap your own beautiful bouquet. You can also make a jam jar posy with your own ‘flower frog’! Bring secateurs and an apron. Materials and refreshments included.

Friday 10 July, 7 for 7.30pm start: Foraging Talk

 

Talk in the Village Hall: Foraging for Wild Medicine

Time: 7pm for 7.30 pm start       Cost:  £8         

Medical herbalist, Sarah Hitchens, will give an illustrated talk about local, easy to forage herbs around the year. She will demonstrate both her herb press and herb still, as well as bringing dried herbs, tinctures and vinegars to show what we can do with our bounty!   Talk to include a glass of wine/soft drink.

Regular Events:

Music Night - monthly, through the winter

 

Cure all ailments! Alleviate your worries! Ameliorate those toxins! 100% approved, testimonials available! With the extraordinary... Chiselborough music night! (all rights reserved, no actual guarantee of improvements to health)!

Please tell your friends! And bring something along to perform if you wish...

Music begins at 7.30pm at Chiselborough village hall. Performers of all sorts and abilities are very welcome, and listeners too. Entry is by donation - Suggested contribution £3 for adults, £1 for teenagers, under 12 free. Bring your own drinks. Snacks will be available. —Patch Tucker


Church events

 

Chiselborough Housegroup continues on Wednesday evenings, in members homes—Bible study, prayer and fellowship. New people very welcome. Contact Chris Howat for details. The Ladybirds Toddler Group has moved to All Saints Hall in Stoke.


Mobile Library: monthly on Tuesday mornings

 

The library bus will be near the Village Hall at a time between 9.30 and 10am

Our Church is open daily

 

Daily 10am – 4pm : for individual prayer / visitors (except during services)


Church Services : every Sunday morning

 

Chiselborough Church has a regular 9.30am service on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Sunday of the month.  On the 2nd Sunday we join with the rest of the Benefice in a 10.30 Café Church which rotates around the Benefice, while for 5th Sundays we join together as a benefice and have one united service.  For further details of all services in the Benefice see here.


The Fish Van: every Tuesday, 9.20am

 

Not entirely sure this is an event!.. but here’s a quick mention for the weekly visit of Daren’s fresh fish van, enjoyed by a queue of appreciative villagers. Daren stops outside the Village Hall every Tuesday around 9.20am.


There is an independently run village email newsletter, which includes a wealth of practical, social and community information. Typically it is updated and circulated once or twice weekly. If you would like to receive this, please call Alexandra on 881476.
